Point values as published on the ACT Government's Canberra Matrix score pages (page copies dated 10 August 2026). This is a total of the points you pick, not a ranking, an invitation or a nomination decision. Each claim must be evidenced when you submit.

§01

How are the points counted?

Pick one option in each category. Each option carries the points the ACT Government publishes for it. The total is the sum of your picks, so the highest possible total is 195 for the resident version and 185 for the overseas version (the sum of the top option in each category).

You may claim a category only if you meet its criteria on the date you submit or update the Matrix. If the ACT invites you, your documents must evidence every claim. A Canberra Matrix score is claimed separately for each pathway, 190 or 491.

The occupation categories depend on the ACT Nominated Migration Program Occupation List. Small business thresholds differ by visa: A$32,000 taxable income in six months for the 190 and A$16,000 in three months for the 491.

§02

What does the score not tell you?

The score is not an invitation. The ACT ranks Matrix submissions within each occupation, and the cut-off moves with the places left, the date and time of submission, the occupation cap and demand. A high total can still go uninvited. The ACT does not answer requests for ranking information.

The Matrix is the ACT’s own scale. It is a separate score from any Home Affairs points test. Eligibility for ACT nomination for the 190 has its own criteria that no total can replace.

§03

Where do the point values come from?

From the ACT Government’s two Matrix score pages (copies dated 10 August 2026), which list the criteria, options and points used here. Confirm them on act.gov.au before you lodge, because the ACT can change the Matrix. This tool is not published by the ACT and does not submit anything.

§04

Next step

Claiming a point you cannot prove can lead to refusal of the whole application. An application prepared by an Australian migration lawyer is more likely to succeed: a Canberra immigration lawyer checks each claim against the criteria and your evidence before you submit. See immigration lawyer Canberra for how to enquire, and ACT state nomination for the steps that follow the score.
